The Sheriff's Department belongs to the people and not to family. In an aim to professionalize and depoliticize the department, I will not be hiring members of my family. Nepotism erodes the institution from the inside out. As your Sheriff, every person in my department will be employed based on their skill, education, experience and vision. We will live by the law we enforce, and we will be an equal opportunity employer as required by law.
I would like to implement several programs into the Sheriff's Department that will be a benefit for all.
As your Sheriff, I would like to bring back the jail garden. This has been proven to save money on the food bill as well teach responsibility to the inmates who will work the garden.
As your Sheriff, I will assure religious services are available to the inmates. I would also like to have Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous available for those who need it. I want to give all inmates an opportunity to turn their lives around.
As your Sheriff, I would like to bring back programs such as the "elderly call-in" program. You will be able to know that when you are at work or away that my department will check on the well being of your loved ones.
