Anti-Nepotism
The Sheriff's Department belongs to the people and not to family. In an aim to professionalize and depoliticize the department, I will not be hiring members of my family. Nepotism erodes the institution from the inside out. As your Sheriff, every person in my department will be employed based on their skill, education, experience and vision. We will live by the law we enforce, and we will be an equal opportunity employer as required by law.

You have my VOTE !! Hiring family is bad for everyone in the county.
You can do this by. 1. Having position descriptions written for each position. 2. Cooperate with an outside employment agency and have people apply through them, vetting the top five or so applicants to send for your view. Never should an application be taken at the SO, will make sure each person is treated the same no matter who they are. I think the TN Department of Employment Security will do this for free. This will be totally fair and have applicants that are qualified for each position. Never hire for any job unless it is opened to the public and advertised!
